So, she cast a spell upon all who lived in Cybertown in an effort to rid them of their caring ways. One day, the evil witch ElleMtee knew that such selflessness would put a serious cramp in her plans to rule the world. Likewise, when one felt low in spirit, mere moments would pass before another would offer words of encouragement. It was quite commonplace for one town member to go out of his or her way to provide all sorts of information to help another in need. While that, in itself, was an unusual phenomenon, what was even more remarkable was that each of its citizens had genuine concern for everyone else's welfare. Once upon a time, in an enormously vast land called Cybertown, there lived a great many inhabitants who, oddly enough, had never met each other. It is meant to be fun, so I hope you enjoy it. Being able to interact, walk to different environments helps us to visualize the space online and takes us to places we actually wanna go.I was inspired to write this story because of all of the thoughtful, helpful people I have met in "cyberspace" during Last Minute Travel's "The World for $1" promotion.

Having a TV object actually showing a video or avatars of users changing their body movements and facial expressions when we make a comment gives us a newer perspective in the online world. Features like this enables the user to relate and collaborate with fellow users in the virtual environment. There are beach buggies and shopping malls where you can accessorize your avatar. This gives the online users (CyberTown citizens) a purpose to socialize and earn credits. For CyberTown, we had Majors and Town Leaders along with many other focused virtual jobs.

So creating actions and opportunities for users to interact online is needed. Anything nice, but without a purpose won’t appeal much to the user. The purpose of the virtual environment is important. Having detailed 3D models would enable users to express themselves more realistically or for some, imaginatively.

Having a good virtual environment would mean an efficient way to display the virtual content without restricting the user based on how many other windows or applications he can open at the same time.ģD modeling of objects and avatars also do play a key part.

The software used for the display of 3D models had compatibility issues with less power computers. Previously in CyberTown, it would take minutes just to load a virtual world. The three technologies I would list that are core in these environments would be: Depending on the purpose of the virtual environment. So what are the technologies that are core in these virtual environments? Many. Now with Second Life, with much more features and better graphics than before. Instead of making a phone call or video conferencing with your friends, virtual environments puts your friends beside you and you are able to interact in a 3D perspective. This creates virtual worlds that users can manipulate into their own interpretation and also visualize the online world in an alluring way. Having your own avatars (I could even transform myself into a car with a keystroke), objects such that acts as furnitures and homes where online users can visit. It was so cool back in the late 1990s to be able to socialize in 3D.

I remembered the years where I spent my time in online virtual communities such as CyberTown and MTV’s Virtual Laguna Beach. This blog post is in relation to Tutorial 2 Question 3. Technologies that Successful Virtual Environments Depend On
